There’s something different about families welcoming their third baby.
The first time around, everything feels new. Parents are figuring things out as they go, wondering if they’re doing everything right. By the third baby, there’s often a little more confidence, a little more flexibility, and a lot more understanding that these tiny newborn days pass far too quickly.
That’s exactly how this in-home newborn session with the Lowery family felt.
As a Montgomery TX newborn photographer, one of my favorite things is documenting families in the comfort of their own homes where everyone can relax and simply be themselves.

On a bright winter afternoon in Montgomery, Texas, I spent a couple of hours with Danielle, Jake, Kai, Aria, and their newest addition, baby Liam. We photographed the session in the comfort of their bedroom using nothing but natural window light, creating the kind of relaxed environment where everyone could simply be themselves.
And honestly, that’s my favorite way to photograph newborn sessions.

One of my favorite parts of this session was watching Liam’s older siblings interact with him.
Like most young children, Kai and Aria’s attention shifted throughout the session. At first, they were eager to hold their baby brother, give him kisses, and stay close to him. Later, they wandered off to play, watch part of the Super Bowl pregame with Dad, and enjoy being kids.
And that’s exactly how it should be.
Children don’t need to sit perfectly still for two hours to create meaningful family photographs.

In fact, some of the most genuine moments happen when we stop expecting perfection and allow kids to engage naturally.
Aria especially seemed completely captivated by her new baby brother. As a little girl who already loved caring for baby dolls, she now had a real-life baby to snuggle and look after. Watching her proudly hold Liam and stay close to him throughout the session was incredibly sweet.
Years from now, I imagine those photographs will mean just as much to her as they do to her parents.

One of the reasons I love in-home newborn photography is that families don’t have to pack bags, load car seats, or worry about making it somewhere on time.
Everything they need is already right there.
If baby needs to eat, we take a break.
If a sibling needs a snack, that’s fine too.
If kids want to play for a while before joining back in, we simply go with it.
The goal isn’t perfect behavior.
The goal is connection.

Photographing newborn sessions at home also allows me to capture the little details families often forget with time—the bedroom where they rocked their baby in the middle of the night, the bassinet beside the bed, the tiny newborn outfits that are somehow outgrown almost immediately.
Those details become part of the story.

Liam gave us a little bit of everything during his session.
There were sleepy moments, quiet moments, and some wonderfully alert moments too.
Most newborns spend a large portion of their session sleeping, but Liam woke up and gave me some of my favorite images from the entire gallery.
At one point, he locked eyes with the camera and held his gaze just long enough for me to capture a series of portraits that immediately stood out while I was editing.

Those photographs feel so personal because they show a glimpse of who he already was, even in those earliest days.
Another favorite moment came when he let out an enormous yawn while Danielle and Jake held him in their arms.
It’s one of those little newborn expressions that lasts only a second but somehow becomes one of the images parents treasure most.
The tiny stretches.
The yawns.
The wrinkly feet.
The way they fit perfectly into their parents’ arms.
Those are often the moments that matter most years later.

One thing I hear from parents all the time is:
“What if my kids don’t cooperate?”
The truth is, I don’t expect them to.
Children are not supposed to perform for two hours.
They’re supposed to be curious, energetic, playful, and sometimes distracted.

This session is a perfect example.
Kai and Aria weren’t focused on photographs every second of the session. Sometimes they wanted to hold Liam. Sometimes they wanted to play. Sometimes they wanted to do something completely different.
Instead of fighting that, we worked with it.
The result was a gallery filled with genuine interactions, natural expressions, and real family connection.
Not forced smiles.
Not stiff poses.
Just a family loving on their newest little boy.

When I look through this gallery, I keep coming back to the same thought:
One day Liam won’t be this little anymore.
His feet won’t fit in the palm of a hand.
His big sister won’t remember exactly how excited she was to hold him for the first time.
His parents may forget just how tiny he looked sleeping beside them.
But these photographs help preserve those memories.
Not perfectly.
Not posed.
But honestly.
And that’s what makes them meaningful.
If you’re expecting a baby and looking for a relaxed in-home newborn photographer in Montgomery, The Woodlands, Conroe, or the surrounding areas, I’d love to help you document this season in a way that feels natural and true to your family.
Because your kids don’t need to sit still.
They don’t need to smile on command.
And your family doesn’t need to be perfect to create beautiful photographs.
If you’re looking for relaxed family photos where your kids can simply be themselves, I’d love to connect.
